Welcome to My Fine Art Photography Website
Bill Pender – Photographer
I am a photographer located on picturesque Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, USA and specializing in custom fine art photography including, nature, landscapes, and portraits. Using a combination of ground based and aerial photography equipment I endeavor to capture the beauty of the Low Country, its surrounding areas and around the world.
I have been capturing photographic images in one form or another for over 40 years. I travel extensively all over the world and have visited over 30 different countries. My wife Jo and I moved permanently to the Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort area in 2015. Establishing 3b photography, as a local company, I provide a broad range of photographic services. My specialties originally centered on aerial photography and portraits of all types. Presently, I am focusing more on custom fine art photography consisting primarily of landscapes and birds/wildlife. Whether it be in the studio environment or on location, I endeavor to create great images for all of my clients.
I am a member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America). As a licensed drone pilot (FAA part 107) I also operate two drones for creating stunning aerial images. Recently, I have also added aerial videography to my range of services.
protogrAPher INSPIRATION
The Low Country of South Carolina offers as excellent environment of unique vistas that provide memorable photographs. Whether it be the beaches, marshes, live oak/pine forests, wildlife, sunsets, sunrises, parks or just the peaceful surroundings, as a photographer, I look to create images that will remind you of the great times and places that can be found in our area and beyond.
PhotogpraPher TECHNIQUES
For my landscape photography I often use HDR images that I capture with a camera on a tripod or using one of my drones in tripod mode. All of my wildlife/nature photography is accomplished using Nikon camera equipment. Many people ask specifically what camera equipment I use for my wildlife images. My current “go to” set up is a Nikon Z9 camera with a variety of lenses. A Nikkor 800mm lens is my “go to” lens for most of my wildlife images. I also use a tripod with a gimbal head for many of my wildlife images in order to get them clear and sharp. Post processing of my images is accomplished with PhotoShop and other specialty software.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
My love for photography began in high school when I took my first courses in photography (mostly black and white). I learned all the basics at the time and developed my own film and prints in the darkroom. For much of my professional career, I was in another business that took me on numerous trips around the the world. My camera always traveled by my side. In 2015, I made the decision to retire early and pursue my passion as a full time photographer.
